The Journey to Success

By:

Step 1 – Beginning

Have a clear understanding of where the journey begins. You know that it is stupid for a person in Helsinki, travelling to London, to tell themselves that they are presently in Sydney and London is their destination.

There is no point in setting a goal if you don’t know and admit to yourself where you are now now, because you won’t know which way to go to get there. This is a major error people make with their lives. They are not completely honest with themselves about where they presently are.

Step 2 checkpoints

You need checkpoints and a route to help you stay on course. Napoleon Hill said ‘You must know what you want, why you want it, when you want it, and an idea on how you are going to get it.’ We know what we want and we need checkpoints to help us stay on course.

Step 3 Destination

You need a clear understanding of your destination.

Success is not a destination, it never has been, but it is a journey. It is not something you get, it is something you are becoming. It is infinite in terms of growth.

Earl Nightinggale said "Success is the progressive realisation of a worthy ideal."

Step 4 Commitment

You need a commitment to successfully complete the journey, regardless of the detours which you might encounter en route.

I have spent time studying books like "In search or excellence" and "In pursuit of excellence". Excellence is perhaps one of the most important words in your life. What does the word mean to you?

Excellence means a commitment to completion – that is all – simply a commitment to completion. The steps are not easy, but the understanding of the steps is easy, if you remember that excellence is a commitment to completion. – It means completing the things around home, at work, in your personal life.
